Nissan Juke Test: Unique in species

Juke car belongs to another species, or at least forward vision. How about the rest of the details? We will know after the test.

The model we have in sight is the front-wheel drive and powered by gasoline engine with direct injection, developing 190 bhp. But under the magnifying glass is not a classic car in attitude and design.

Japan’s Nissan is addressing non-conformists. Visually, the front looks odd, by decision of positioning lights too high, but also by their shape.

New Nissan Juke is a brother of the platform, Cube, Micra and Note and measures 4135 meters in length. Inside, the attention of the manufacturer for materials could be something bigger. Nissan textile and synthetic materials used, combined with a color palette inspired not always chosen. But, given the comfortable driving position, we believe we can move more easily than the previous layout.

The space is dedicated to the expectations of passengers in front, but not enough for the back, especially if you are heavier and, consequently, the place is limited to the head, and knee. Compromise lack of space was made for aerodynamic body. And if we talk about space, you have to remember about the trunk. It offers a capacity of only 251 liters in this case. We say in this case, because Juke wheel drive versions have less trunk: 207 liters.

Under the hood we had gasoline engine, 1.6-liter, turbocharged to deliver 190 hp. This engine does not shoot very confident, and sometimes can be characterized as lazy. Juke can not be ordered with all-wheel drive and manual gearbox, but with a six-speed CVT. In addition, fans dCi diesel’s 110 horsepower must take their mind off the 4×4, that Juke can not have and 4×4 and diesel.

From the point of view for the driver, the direction is incisive, even if addressed in speed curves. Gearshift lever is not always cooperative, precise and requires adjustment.
